Message from the Board:
This spring, Hookin’ Veterans charted new waters—literally and figuratively—as we launched our annual fishing adventure to Maine, and what a success it was! From the rocky shores to the open sea, Veterans from all walks of life shared laughter, reflection, and unforgettable memories. These moments are what this mission is all about: connection, healing, and hope.
Thanks to our incredible volunteers, donors, and sponsors, we’re proud to say—we’re just getting started. Our next big trip will take place this August in West Palm Beach!
Maine Trip Recap: Veterans Cast Off in the Northeast
The Maine trip brought together a group of Veterans—some strangers, all brothers by the end—who spent four days fishing the beautiful Atlantic, exploring the coast, and bonding over stories of service and survival. A few highlights:
- Haddock and smiles: Dozens of fish caught, but the real catch was the camaraderie
- Firsts and breakthroughs: One Veteran told us, “This was the first time I’ve felt at peace in years.”
- Ocean therapy: Nature did what it does best—calmed the nerves, opened hearts, and reminded everyone that they’re not alone
